Westgate Winds Condominium
Landscape maintenance is often the costliest item in a condo or apartment complex budget because landscaped grounds require weekly attention and are not designed appropriately. In this project, the goals are to reduce the landscape maintenance cost and need. In the end, the complex will need much less water, will have a nicer looking landscape, will cost less and will be more viable ecologically, socially and economically through simple educated, architectural and design changes. Examples of steps taken: conversion of sod into planter areas, extension of private patios, increase of shade on hardscape surfaces. In progress. Southwest Bakersfield, California.
Yoga Space
A business entry makes the deal or breaks it. The front of a building is what customers see first. In the context of a yoga studio, the landscape must inspire serenity, comfort and relaxation. In this hot desert area, an old tree provides shade and protects visitors from intense sunshine. The front entry also functions as a tea salon rocked by the sound of a monolith fountain. Stine Country Apartments
This landscape mimics a river bed. It gives an idea of water presence although it is a desert. This makes the space more hospitable and inviting.
