Jardin de l'Esperance - Designed from 2,500 miles away
Whether your house or commercial building is under construction or has been existing for years with a grown landscape, sharing pictures, videos and property plans are often sufficient to design a landscape from long distance. In this example, the house was still under construction. Tract homes come with a very basic and unpractical landscape design. The owner decided to have landscape plans drawn before the builder would install their typical front yard package. By the time the owners moved in, they had a landscape they had chosen and fit their needs with lower water usage. See below sample representations and plans the owners were given to chose from to make a final decision.
The first stage has some zoysia sod (low water lawn) installed in the very front of the yard. The final stage as seen on the last photo involved total removal of any sod left to make the lot even more environmentally responsible. Implementing a sod-free landscape in stages gave time to the neighborhood to adjust to a totally different type of landscape and learn to appreciate the aesthetic of desert-like landscape designs.
